Research

ETF Robotics lab activities combines basic research in robotics with applied research in industrial and medical field. The main research directions are human-robot collaboration, soft robotics, and collaborative robotics combined with robotics education. We aim spreading use of robots in industrial, medical and home enviroment by exploring human motion and interaction patterns as an isnpiration for inherently safe, efficient and inteligent robot behavior/control.

ETF Robotics lab provides several robotic platforms for research and education: Panda robot by Franka Emika, IRB120 by ABB, VG6577 by Denso robotics, SCARA SR-3ia by Fanuc, as well as robotics platforms for variable stiffness actuation – 4-DoF QB robot by qbrobotics, and classical agonist-antagonist VSA laboratory setup, TurtleBots as mobile platforms for ROS education. For more details, see our page – Laboratory.

Our basic research projects explore human and robot impedance estimation and control (ForNextCobot), algorithms and tools for collaborative robots in human-center environment (HUMAN-COMAN, CoH-ROM), development and control of anthropomorphic, tendon-driven, complaint service robots (ECCEROBOT, Anth.Serv.Robot). As a recognized regional competence center in robotics, our application-oriented project aims to support regional companies to absorb robotics innovations (DIH2, DIH-HERO, ReconCell experiment). For more details see our project page – Projects.

We are not alone in our mission to make the World better place by enabling robotic technologies, and our key collaborators in our journey are many other labs at ETF, primarily Biomedical Instrumentation and Technologies lab – BMIT, as well as national laboratories IMP Robotics Lab at the Institute Mihajlo Pupin, Laboratory for Industrial Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at Faculty of Mech. Eng., Faculty of Technical Sciences Novi Sad, international partners as CoBoTaT at JSI in Slovenia, LISSI at UPEC in France, and many more project partners as a leading research institutions in robotics: University of Twente, VTT Finland, Imperial College London, DLR Germany, Fraunhofer IPA, IIT, SSSA, POLIMI, ETH Zurich, RWTH Aachen, Tecnalia, EURECAT, CEA, DTI, IMEC, etc. Doing robotics is never easy but it is a pleasure when there is a local support from companies: ABB Serbia, Dillon, Fanuc Serbia, Tipteh, Servoteh, Siemens, Elsys Eastern Europe, Avisto Easter Europe, NOFFZ-Forsteh Technologies, etc. See more – Partners.
